6 Sneaker Trends That Will Be Everywhere in 2025
Fashion Month is coming to an end, but sneakers are still a staple in the footwear world. Our latest street-style analyses show you which sneaker styles to invest in for 2025.
Caroline Maguire is the senior fashion director of Shopbop. She has helped us to create a list of the best styles of sneakers for spring. She teases that retro sneakers and high-top canvas shoes are among her top picks for the coming months (two trends Bazaar is sure to love).
Your tired soles will be grateful for styles that range from bright and bold colours to complement your office outfits. You’ll find everything from designer styles by Miu Miu and Prada to classics from Adidas, Nike and Converse. What’s the best part? All of these are not only trendy, but they are also extremely comfortable.
1. Retro Kicks
Maguire states that retro sneakers with gummy-like soles still dominate the market. They pair easily with anything from jeans to skirts and create a playful, bold vibe. They are so versatile, even when they’re in bright colours. Maguire suggests that you look to heritage brands like Gola, Nike and Adidas for “classic styles with a modern touch.”
2. Sleek Suede Trainers
The luxurious texture of suede has been extended to sneakers. Keep it simple with low-cut silhouettes inspired by vintage runners. Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Puma have new styles. Their Speedcat sneakers are already catching the attention of celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski, Jennifer Lawrence, etc.
3. Metallic Sneakers
Maguire says that metallic sneakers will be a big trend in 2025. They are both stylish and functional. Maguire prefers Salomon or Asics for a more modernized dad-sneaker style. She explains that both brands have comfortable sneakers that are performance-driven and stylish.
4. Classic High Tops
Maguire told Bazaar that high-tops will be a big hit in 2025. They are comfortable and can go with any outfit. We’ve seen designer interpretations of the OG on the runways at Loewe, Stella McCartney and other designers. But Maguire says you can never go incorrect with the OG. She says Converse is the best investment for a timeless piece. Converse’s classic Chuck Taylor low-tops and high-tops are a staple for style and versatility. These sneakers will always be classic in the sneaker style.
5. Colorful Sneakers
You can inject some colour into your wardrobe if the winter blues have you feeling down. Choose cool sneakers in vibrant colours for the season to come. This trend is also a nod to the past with many retro silhouettes. The most popular street-style sneakers are Reebok Classic AZs and Adidas Tokyo low-tops. However, you should keep the colour scheme slanted towards shades of the ’70s. They can add a splash of colour to your favourite work outfits, such as a blazer with trousers.
6. Ballet Sneakers
The ballet sneaker will be one of the most controversial shoe trends for 2025. These strapped styles, whether you like Simone Rocha’s and Cecilie Bronsen’s versions that embrace texture and volume or something more minimalist, such as Wales Bonner’s streamlined version, are a nod to traditional Mary Jane and ballet flats.
